Advanced Care for Hepatocellular Carcinoma (Liver Cancer)
Dr. Tushar Madake offers comprehensive care for liver cancer, including early detection through surveillance, accurate staging, and a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, aiming for the best possible outcomes.
Primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) is a serious condition that often develops in the setting of chronic liver disease, such as cirrhosis from hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or alcohol. Early detection is key, as it opens up more treatment options. At Glen Clinic, we prioritize surveillance for at-risk patients.

Dr. Madake's Approach to Liver Cancer Management
We follow a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure you receive the most appropriate and effective care.
- Surveillance & Early Detection: For patients with cirrhosis, we perform regular ultrasounds and blood tests (AFP) every 6 months to detect cancer at an early, treatable stage.
- Accurate Diagnosis & Staging: We use advanced imaging (CT, MRI) and, if needed, biopsy to confirm the diagnosis and determine the stage of the cancer. Staging guides the treatment plan.
- Multidisciplinary Treatment Planning: Dr. Madake works closely with a team of oncologists, interventional radiologists, and surgeons to offer a range of treatments based on the stage and liver function. Options may include:
- Curative Treatments: Surgical resection (removal of the tumor), liver transplant, or ablation (radiofrequency/microwave to destroy the tumor).
- Locoregional Therapies: Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) or radioembolization (Y-90) to deliver treatment directly to the tumor.
- Systemic Therapies: Targeted therapy or immunotherapy for advanced-stage cancer.
- Supportive & Palliative Care: We focus on managing symptoms, preserving liver function, and maintaining quality of life throughout the treatment journey.
Dr. Madake provides compassionate guidance and expert coordination to navigate the complexities of liver cancer treatment.
